Medication & Sharps Drop-Off Kiosks

Los Altos residents may now drop-off expired or unused prescription medication and sharps at the Los Altos Police Department. There are two convenient Safe Drug Disposal drop-off kiosks (BLUE for prescription medications and RED for sharps) provided by the Santa Clara County Recycling and Waste Reduction Division located inside our lobby. 

• Accepted: Prescription medications in any dosage form, except for those "Not Accepted", in their original container or sealed bag. If transferring medications to a sealed bag, please be sure to recycle all remaining packaging.
• Not Accepted: Herbal remedies, vitamins, supplements, cosmetics, other personal care products, compressed cylinders, aerosols, inhalers, medical devices, illicit drugs, and iodine-containing medications.
