Handbills
Los Altos Municipal Code section Chapter 9.08 - Handbills outlines rules and regulations pertaining the distribution of handbills door-to-door or direct in hand to a willing recipient within the City.
- If a business wants to leave an advertisement at a private property they are allowed unless the resident has posted "No Handbills", "Handbills Prohibited" or "No Handbills Allowed" sign on their property.
- Printed matter, advertising sample, or device that is delivered to private property, must be distributed in such a manner that it will not be blown away.
- A permit is not required if a business chooses to leave a handbill.
- It is unlawful for any person, or business to distribute on public property within the city of Los Altos, any handbill or advertising unless it is delivered directly to a person willing to accept the material.
