Mosquito Fogging Planned Tuesday, June 24 in South Los Altos
The Santa Clara County Vector Control District (SCCVCD) will be performing mosquito fogging this evening in parts of Los Altos, Mountain View and Sunnyvale.
The fogging area is generally bordered by Lynn Way, Cambridge Ave., Brookline Dr., and Hyde Park Dr. on the north; Tilton Dr. and Yukon Dr. on the east; West Homestead Rd. on the south; and Alford Ave., Park Hills Ave., and Wessex Ave. on the west. A live map can be viewed on the SCCVCD website at http://bit.ly/1iENI7s.
This fogging is in response to the SCCVCD’s findings on June 17 that adult mosquitoes collected from the 94024, 94087, 94040 ZIP code areas of the cities of Sunnyvale, Los Altos, and Mountain View tested positive for West Nile virus (WNV). This mosquito fogging treatment will help prevent human cases of WNV.
Fogging Schedule
Weather permitting; the ground fogging is scheduled for Tuesday, June 24, 2014, at 11:00 p.m., and is planned to last for several hours. The zone is centered at St. Mary Ave. and Fremont Ave.
Post-fogging mosquito samples will be set on Wednesday, and collected on Thursday, June 26. If virus is found in the post-treatment samples, additional fogging may be required. If no virus is found, further fogging will not be needed.
