Los Altos, Calif. — November 21, 2024 — The Los Altos Police Department, in collaboration with Resilient Los Altos, invites the community to a Community Safety Town Hall on Wednesday, December 4, from 6-7:30 PM at the Garden House (400 University Avenue). This town hall will provide residents with:

Los Altos, Calif. — November 20, 2024 — On Tuesday, November 19, the Los Altos Police Department led a coordinated Group Enforcement event in Los Altos to improve traffic safety and reduce collisions.

Los Altos, Calif. — November 16, 2024 — The Los Altos City Council unanimously voted Tuesday night (Nov. 12) to approve an ordinance moving Los Altos to a district-based system for electing City Council members.

Los Altos, Calif. — November 12, 2024 — Today, at approximately 11:37 AM, the Los Altos Police Department responded to a report of a possible threat against Los Altos High School. Following a thorough investigation, officers determined the threat to be a hoax.

Los Altos, Calif. — November 9, 2024 — The city of Los Altos is seeking proposals from qualified consultants to provide design and community outreach services for a potential new park in downtown Los Altos. The proposed park would be located on the site of the existing Parking Plazas 1 and 2 and include at least two levels of underground parking.

Los Altos, Calif. — October 31, 2024 — The city of Los Altos welcomes Jessie Kim as its newly appointed finance director. She will assume this position on Tuesday, November 12.

Los Altos, Calif. — November 16, 2024 — The Los Altos City Council unanimously voted Tuesday night (Nov. 12) to approve an ordinance moving Los Altos to a district-based system for electing City Council members. This ordinance establishes the boundaries for five new districts, sets the election schedule beginning in November 2026, and outlines residency requirements for potential candidates.

The first district-based elections will begin in November 2026 with Districts 2 and 4. Elections for Districts 1, 3, and 5 will take place in November 2028.

Los Altos, Calif. — November 12, 2024 — Today, at approximately 11:37 AM, the Los Altos Police Department responded to a report of a possible threat against Los Altos High School. Following a thorough investigation, officers determined the threat to be a hoax. 

Late this morning, school administrators received notification that an individual had made a threat against the high school through a crisis center’s online chat platform.

Los Altos, Calif. — November 9, 2024 — The city of Los Altos is seeking proposals from qualified consultants to provide design and community outreach services for a potential new park in downtown Los Altos. The proposed park would be located on the site of the existing Parking Plazas 1 and 2 and include at least two levels of underground parking.

The selected consultant will be responsible for conducting community outreach to gather input on desired park features, developing conceptual drawings and plans based on that input, and providing cost estimates for the project.

Los Altos, Calif. — October 31, 2024 — The city of Los Altos welcomes Jessie Kim as its newly appointed finance director. She will assume this position on Tuesday, November 12.

Kim brings more than 14 years of finance experience to Los Altos. She will lead a department of seven staff and oversee citywide financial activities and operations, including budget preparation and supervision of accounting procedures.
