Hetch Hetchy Bicycle and Pedestrian Trail Temporary Closure

Los Altos, Calif. — July 21, 2023 — The Hetch Hetchy Bicycle and Pedestrian Trail will be closed Monday-Friday, July 24-28, for tree and vegetation pruning and removal.

Trees and vegetation adjacent to this pipeline will be trimmed and/or removed as they have the potential to cause corrosion and interfere with local fire ordinances enacted to protect public safety.

As discussed in several public meetings, this work is part of the City's compliance with the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC) agreement and enables public access to the trail.

The Hetch Hetchy Bicycle and Pedestrian Trail is on Right of Way (ROW) land owned by the SFPUC. The ROW land is part of the Hetch Hetchy Regional Water System that serves almost three million people in the Bay Area.
