The city of Los Altos Legislative History can be gathered from various types of documents. These documents chronicle the history of Council actions from the City's incorporation in 1952.
Municipal Code
The Los Altos City Code contains provisions and laws adopted by the City Council to maintain a healthy and safe community and to preserve the quality of life in Los Altos. The Code includes Zoning and Building regulations as well as administrative regulations.
Ordinances
Ordinances are adopted by the City Council and constitute the laws of the City. Ordinances become part of the Los Altos Municipal Code after adoption.
Proclamations
A proclamation is an official document issued by the Mayor to mark a particular time period, such as a day, week, or month. It is designed to recognize and raise awareness about significant issues, causes, milestones, or noteworthy events that are relevant and important to the community.
Resolutions
Resolutions are adopted by the City Council. Certain actions by Council must be taken by Resolutions, such as the adoption of the City's Financial Plan and acceptance of Public Works projects. Resolutions do not become part of the Los Altos Municipal Code unless referred to in an Ordinance.
