Los Altos City Council Appoints Chris Jordan Permanent City Manager
Los Altos, Calif. – August 24, 2016 – The Los Altos City Council appointed Chris Jordan the permanent City Manager at its regular City Council meeting on Tuesday, August 23, 2016.
The Los Altos City Council approved the hiring of Jordan on an interim basis in April 2016 following the resignation of former City Manager Marcia Somers.
“Chris brings a tremendous amount of experience that will serve our community well,” said Los Altos Mayor Jeannie Bruins. “His ability to successfully manage a City of similar size while overseeing the master planning of a commercial area, constructing new community facilities and securing innovative public partnerships will be extremely beneficial as Los Altos moves forward with key projects and initiatives.”
Jordan comes to Los Altos after serving 10 years as the City Manager of West Linn, Oregon; a town of 26,000 people located 10 miles south of Portland. In West Linn, Jordan managed an organization similar in size to Los Altos with roughly 130 employees.
Prior to his time in West Linn, Jordan worked for the City of Lake Oswego, Oregon for 10 years, the last five as the Assistant City Manager. Prior to his time in municipal government, Jordan worked for the Federal Government’s Office of Management and Budget in Washington, DC.
“I am honored the Los Altos City Council has chosen me to manage the operation of such an amazing City,” said Jordan. “I have had the pleasure of meeting many local community members and business leaders while getting to know the highly skilled and dedicated staff here in Los Altos while acting as the Interim City Manager. I look forward to continuing to serve the Council and the Los Altos community.”
The City Council approved an employment agreement that outlines Jordan’s terms of employment including salary and benefits.
