City of Los Altos Recognized for Exemplary Financial Reporting

Los Altos, Calif. – February 3, 2023 – The city of Los Altos has been named recipient of the Award of Financial Reporting Achievement for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2021. This award, presented to the finance department, is conferred by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA).  

Sighting this as the highest award in government financial reporting, GFOA grants this award annually to finance departments that demonstrate a spirit of full disclosure to clearly communicate its financial story and increase readership. 

“This award reflects the commitment of the City Council, finance commission, and financial management team to sound fiscal management and practices. I could not be more proud of the dedication, professionalism, and good work that led to this well-deserved recognition,” said Finance Director June Du.  

This achievement award for the 2021 Annual Comprehensive Financial Report is the 17th awarding of this certificate to the City, which has received this award each year since fiscal year 2005. Reports are judged on thoroughness in reporting, in addition to compliance with generally accepted accounting principles.  

The GFOA reviewing committee is comprised of members and staff with expertise in public sector reporting, academics, independent auditors, and other financial professionals.
