Single-use Plastics Foodware Ordinance
The City of Los Altos is committed to promoting a more sustainable future for our community. As part of this ongoing effort, we are proposing an ordinance to reduce single-use plastic foodware.
Single-use plastic foodware, like cups, containers, and utensils, are a major source of pollution. They often end up in landfills, litter our streets and waterways, and harm wildlife. This ordinance aims to:
- Reduce plastic waste in landfills and our environment.
- Create cleaner streets and healthier waterways for wildlife.
City staff along with members of the Environmental Commission hosted an Informational Session on the City's proposed Single-Use Plastic Foodware Ordinance on Monday, June 3.
