Fremont Avenue Pavement Rehabilitation

Project Description:

Fremont Avenue Pavement Rehabilitation Project between Grant Road and the Stevens Creek Bridge includes the repair of pavement and installation of new complete street treatments as part of final signage & striping plan.  This project is partially grant-funded through the One Bay Area Grant (OBAG) program in the amount of $336,000 for the future construction phase. Project design is scheduled to complete during Fall 2020, bidding and awarding by  Spring 2021, and construction to start in Fall 2021.

City staff and the design consultant presented the current project design along with striping improvement during the Complete Streets Commission meeting of August 26, 2020. The current striping plan layout can be found under "Files" below. Current Status:

City hired contractor is scheduled to begin construction in September 2021 thru Spring 2022. Please expect construction activities, lane closures and detours on Fremont Avenue between Grant Road and Highway 85 during construction.

• Pavement removal and resurfacing will take place on the week of November 29th through the week of December 7th. East bound traffic will be restricted on Fremont Avenue from Grant Road to Belleville Way during paving operation. Please prepare to take alternative detour route to bypass Fremont Avenue.
• Contractor is expected to conduct paving work on south side of Fremont Avenue on Tuesday, December 7th and north side on Wednesday December 8th. Entrance to Fremont Avenue is restricted for eastbound traffic on both days.
