Los Altos Community Center Community Gallery Call for Art

Where are you from? California? North America? A quiet village? A place of great upheaval? The mountains? The stars? A unique family situation? What about where you grew up, where you were born, who you were surrounded by or where you view yourself from shapes who you are?
We know Los Altos is a vibrant community made up of long-time and recently transplanted residents each with their own unique story. The Los Altos Public Arts Commission wants to celebrate your visual interpretation of where you are from. Your depiction can be literal, metaphorical, symbolic, or entirely from your imagination.
This exhibit will hang in the Los Altos Community Center Community Gallery from April to early-October. An opening reception will take place in April.
Jury decisions made by the Los Altos Public Arts Commission (LAPAC) are final. Selection of artwork is at the discretion of the LAPAC. LAPAC reserves the right not to select any entries. Works that are displayed are not for sale through the City of Los Altos. All works entered should be available for the full period of the show.
To apply, fill out the form below after reading the requirements below. Email the form and a photo of the artwork you wish to exhibit to: lapac@losaltosca.gov. You may submit more than one entry.
Requirements:
- Size: Any size but recommended to not exceed 18”x24” including frame.
- Must be ready to hang. Can be canvas, board, etc. If framed with glass, it is recommended it is framed with non-reflective glass.
- Medium: 2D only. Your choice of medium: watercolor, oil, acrylic, pencil, crayon, pastels, mixed media.
- Please label the back of your artwork with your name, email address and phone number. Artwork that is not labeled will not be accepted.
- All work received must be ready to install following requirements 1-4. Works that are not will not be exhibited and returned to the artist.
- Ages: All ages are encouraged to participate.
- Open to: Residents of Los Altos, Los Altos Hills, Mountain View, Cupertino.
- The City of Los Altos, Los Altos Community Center and Public Arts Commission are not liable for damage to artwork.
- Selection of artwork is at the discretion of the LAPAC.
- Consent to the use of the image of your artwork and/or image backstory in the City of Los Altos social media posts, website and possible other media outlets.
- Artwork should be your own original work. Renditions based on copyright protected sources are not eligible.
- Artwork must represent the show’s theme and follow the City of Los Altos: Guidelines for Public Art Works section Works of Public Art May Include and Ineligible Works of Art.
