Third Street Green Returns to Downtown Los Altos

The City of Los Altos is pleased to announce the return of the Third Street Green in Downtown Los Altos. The Green is located on Third Street between State Street and Plaza North through August 28. 

Events and activities planned for the Green are anticipated to be better than ever due to the support of community co-sponsors which include Los Altos Community Foundation, Los Altos Community Investments, Los Altos Forward, GreenTown Los Altos, Los Altos Town Crier and the Los Altos Village Association. 

A private donation kick-started the planning for this year’s Green, the third one to be held in downtown Los Altos since 2013. 

The concept for the Los Altos Green is rooted in the idea of a “pop-up park”, a trend happening around the country and a term used to describe a temporary park in or near the center of a city or town. This is the third installment of the Green since first being introduced to Los Altos in 2013. 

Programming for the Green was designed with input from co-sponsoring business and community groups all with the intention of providing a fun community gathering space, while at the same time allowing residents to interact with downtown businesses and restaurants. 

This project is meant to appeal to all ages and interests; kids; seniors; teens. Those who work downtown and those who play downtown can all enjoy the amenities the Green has to offer. 

Events and activities planned to take place on the Green include movie nights, live music and a wine and beer event. An outdoor reading room will be available ongoing as well as the Outdoor Underground, a space dedicated to teens. Also notable is that free Wi-Fi will be provided 24/7 on the Green.
