Public Meeting February 4: Civic Center Master Plan project update
Los Altos, Calif. – January 30, 2014 – The City of Los Altos welcomes the community to a Public Meeting on Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. to be held in the Community Meeting Chambers at City Hall located at 1 N. San Antonio Road in Los Altos.
The intent of this meeting is to provide a historic review of the 2009 Civic Center Master Plan project. This meeting will be the first of many to come, as the City of Los Altos is embarking upon a Master Plan update with a focus on the facility identified as most critically in need – the Community Center.
The City Council has determined that the new ‘Los Altos Community Center’ be built in the general area of the current Community Center. This will require significant updates to the site plan previously developed as part of the 2009 Civic Center Master Plan.
The City will be moving forward with this Master Plan update utilizing the services of Anderson Brulé Architects. The City and consultants will make use of a wide breadth of data collected during the original outreach conducted in 2009 as part of the original Master Plan project. This data includes professionally facilitated surveys to measure community support as well as desired facility features and priorities.
As the Master Plan update progresses, the City will seek input from the community once again. An array of public engagement strategies is being developed to ensure the community is aware of the project, able to provide input and feedback and participate in the process.
Those who are unable to attend the February 4 meeting in person are encouraged to tune-in via the City’s cable access channel, Comcast 26. Live streaming video will also be available via the City website at www.losaltosca.gov. Additionally, questions will be collected electronically via an online form on the City website as well as the City’s Twitter account (www.twitter.com/CityofLosAltos). Alternatively, the public can send comments and questions to communitycenter@losaltosca.gov. Responses will be provided at the meeting as time allows, and all questions will be posted on the City’s website after the meeting.
