Planned Closures on First Street January 29 through February 5
In order to accommodate large construction vehicles scheduled at the 400 Main Street construction site, small segments of First Street will be closed in the upcoming weeks. Each closure is being scheduled in order to maintain traffic circulation in the area. A summary of the dates and segments scheduled for closure are detailed below.
Wednesday, January 29 and Thursday, January 30, 2014:
The segment of First Street between Main Street and Plaza Central will be closed. Access to First Street will be maintained via Plaza Central, State Street and the north end of First Street.
UPDATE: This segment of First Street (between Main Street and Plaza Central) will also be closed on Friday, January 31, 2014.
Friday, January 31 and Monday, February 3 - Wednesday, February 5, 2014:
First Street, between Plaza Central and State Street, will be closed on the dates noted above. Access to the Parking Plaza from the Main Street-side will not be blocked.
The current schedule may change due to bad weather or other unforeseen circumstances. Any changes in schedule will be noted here on the City website.
UPDATE: In order to make the most efficient use of the currently planned closure, PG&E will now also be on site to install a gas line that will provide gas to the new Safeway building as well as the 400 Main Street development. This work will require the additional partial closure of one lane of State Street starting in front of Peet's Coffee & Tea. This area will be closed Friday, January 31 and Monday, February 3 through Wednesday, February 5, 2014. One way traffic control will be in place to ensure safe traffic flow.
