COVID-19 Boosters Offered in Los Altos December 21

Los Altos, Calif. — December 7, 2021 — The City of Los Altos is partnering with the County of Santa Clara to host a COVID-19 Booster Pop-Up Clinic at the Los Altos Community Center.

The COVID-19 Booster Pop-Up Clinic will be held at the Los Altos Community Center (97 Hillview Avenue), Tuesday, December 21, 2021, from 12 - 7 PM. No appointment is needed to receive a booster and there is no cost to the public. The booster is available for individuals 18 and older, who received their last Pfizer or Moderna vaccination six months ago, or two months following their Johnson & Johnson vaccination.

The Santa Clara County Public Health Department urges all eligible members of the public who live or work in Santa Clara County to receive a COVID-19 booster shot.

Mayor Neysa Fligor emphasized the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Santa Clara County Public Health’s concern over the newest COVID-19 variant and Los Altos’ role in helping decrease the spread during the holidays. “With the recent emergence of the Omicron variant, there is a lot of uncertainty. But the one thing we can do to protect ourselves and others is get the booster shot.”

County Supervisor Joe Simitian, who also serves as the Chair of the County’s Health and Hospital Committee, encouraged the County to have the pop-up clinic in Los Altos. “Convenience is key. We know that if we make it easy for folks to grab a shot or a booster, more people will do it. That’s why I’m so pleased the City and County are partnering in this way. For those who want to get a booster but have been struggling to find a convenient time and place, this provides an option that is both easy and
local.”

“We appreciate Supervisor Simitian and the County working with us to provide a booster pop-up clinic at a convenient location for Los Altos residents and community members,” said Mayor Fligor. “As we enjoy the holidays and continue to combat COVID-19, I encourage all eligible adults to get the booster shot and continue to get tested, wear a mask, and stay home when feeling sick.”

Vaccinations are still the most effective way of preventing the spread of COVID-19. The Santa Clara County Public Health Department continues to provide COVID-19 vaccinations with sites available daily throughout the County.
