City Council Receives Task Force Recommendation

Concept C1 - Courtyard View

At its meeting on Tuesday, December 12, 2017, Los Altos City Council received the Hillview Community Center Project Task Force (Task Force) recommendations which included interior space allocation, site layout and exterior design of the new Community Center. The Task Force worked with Noll & Tam Architects to arrive at the final design concept, referred to as The Triangle. Based on input from the architectural design team, public and Recreation & Community Services Director Manny Hernandez, the Task Force arrived at a plan that provides both flexible and dedicated program space.

As part of their recommendation, Task Force members also requested Council consider allowing some members of the Task Force to continue meeting with the architects and staff (1) to complete the first design phase (Conceptual/Schematic Design) and (2) to provide continuity and assist with the second design phase (Design Development).

Council provided direction to the Noll & Tam design team to move forward with the conceptual design phase based on a $34.7 M budget with the understanding the budget may be adjusted following a 10-year financial forecast discussion planned for January 2018. Noll & Tam anticipate completing the conceptual design of the new Community Center in February 2018.
